It would be the height of irresponsibility to go for a road trip in January in a car without snow tires and only a narrow strip of land that should be reasonably safe.

That hasn't stopped me from wanting to toss a bag in the car and find out where the road goes.

My brain is sort of like a well-loved house. There are dents in the walls, and I remember how they got there. It's comfortable to walk around in it; I know where all the furniture is and where I occasionally need to get new pieces.
